BSI Kitemark™ for Installation of Flood Protection Products

Following some of the heaviest rainfall since records began, the need to protect properties with correctly installed flood protection products has never been more important.

BSI has offered Kitemark for flood protection products since 2003, and has now extended the Kitemark scheme to cover the installation of Kitemark flood protection products to further help home owners.

Flood Professionals Ltd is the UK’s first BSI Kitemark certified organization for the installation of Kitemark flood protection products. It has been developed to ensure homeowners can easily access both approved Kitemark products and certified flood specialists who will conduct a Kitemark installation survey and install to the strict Kitemark requirements.

Only those who can meet the highest of standards will become a certified scheme member as qualifying requires installers to demonstrate competency and pass a series of live quality tests taking place in both a classroom environment and installed on a client’s property. Installer organisations are comprehensively audited to ensure minimum compliance standards are met.

Once certified, installers will undertake a flood protection installation survey and flood protection product installation to exacting BSI Kitemark scheme requirements. Providing strict impartial quality checks are passed, Flood Professionals Ltd will issue a Certificate that will identify the installed Kitemark products and confirm these products have also been installed to Kitemark scheme requirements.

Frank Kelly, Director of Flood Professionals Ltd is confident the scheme has the capacity to change the shape of the sector for home owners, product manufacturers and all industry stakeholders alike.
