Atkins’ CEO joins BSI Board

BSI Group announces that Mr Keith Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of Atkins, has joined its Board as a Non-executive Director.

A qualified architect, Mr Clarke brings to BSI more than 30 years’ international experience in construction and engineering in the US, Europe and Asia.

Before his current post as the CEO of the largest multi-disciplinary consultancy in Europe, Mr Clarke was CEO of Skanska UK and Chief Executive, Construction at Kvaerner Construction Group. He has also held a number of management roles at Trafalgar House and Olympia & York.

A keen supporter of standards, Mr Clarke chaired the CIC Health & Safety Committee and subsequently the CIC Constructing Excellence National Platform High Level Steering Group. He is a patron of the Environmental Industries Commission, an advisory board member at Imperial College and Vice President for International Affairs for the RIBA.

Sir David John, Chairman of BSI Group, said of the appointment: “Mr Clarke’s wide experience in construction, both in the UK and overseas, will provide significant support to BSI’s interests in this strategically important sector.”

BSI also announces that Mr Michael French is stepping down from his position as a Non-executive Director after six years on the Board. Sir David John went on to say: “Mr French served BSI with distinction and dedication; his expertise proved to be a great asset for our organization.”
