esure - the first Insurance company to have a fully Certified BSI Kitemark Repairer Network

PRESS RELEASE

July 2009

esure – one of the country’s leading car insurers - has become the first UK insurer to have its entire network of repairers certified to the BSI Kitemark (PAS125), which sets out the high standards that policyholders can expect when having their cars repaired.

esure operates a network of 98 bodyshops which enable the company to keep a close control of standards and benefits, while retaining strong customer relationships. Each job undertaken by esure’s ‘repairernet’ is subject to an online report online both insurer and repairer to track progress and quality.

Keith Dempsey, esure’s head of technical services explained: "esure was closely involved in the development of PAS125 from the beginning. We knew that we wanted all of our bodyshops to be BSI Kitemark certified as this helps to provide a reassurance of quality and safety to our customers. The BSI Kitemark ensures that there are uniformly high standards across our network and that our customers’ cars are repaired to these standards."

To gain the highly-regarded Kitemark, the repairers must prove that they conform to tough standards on repair methods, equipment, environmental standards and materials. All these elements are then assessed by independent BSI inspectors and repairers must meet stringent benchmarks if the valuable Kitemark is to be awarded.

esure announced to their network in April 2007 their intention for all bodyshops to be compliant with PAS125. To provide an added incentive, as soon as each bodyshop applied for certification esure immediately increased their labour rate to help them fund the certification training and costs.

Scott Hanney, BSI sales manager added: "We are impressed that esure has taken steps to ensure that all their repair network has achieved the BSI Kitemark status in two years. This is a real achievement and everyone at esure should feel proud of the dedication and hard work that has gone into reaching Kitemark standard across the network. By having the Kitemark a bodyshop demonstrates how serious they are about getting critical vehicle body repair safety processes right."
