BSI sponsors modern Chinese art exhibition in London

Press release - 14 March 2008

BSI is to sponsor a new exhibition of Modern Chinese Art at Asia House. The Khoan and Michael Sullivan Collection - 'A New Generation', 1 April – 24 May, is the first showing in London of this unique collection of Chinese art acquired over a period of 65 years.

BSI, a global provider of standards-based services and solutions, began operating in China more than a decade ago, and now has 10 offices and more than 300 employees based there. A strong relationship has been developed between BSI and the National Standards Body of China – Standardization Administration of China (SAC) – particularly in the areas of energy saving, sustainability, information security and food safety.

It is with great pleasure that BSI contributes to the arrival of this important exhibition at Asia House. A New Generation shows further works collected by the great scholar and connoisseur of Chinese painting in the West, Michael Sullivan, and his wife Khoan. Curated by Professor Sullivan, the works in this exhibition were produced after the Beijing Spring of 1979-81, which released a wave of creative energy marking the art of the 1980s and 1990s.

Speaking at a reception attended by Madame FU Ying, Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Flemming Norklit, Managing Director, BSI Management Systems, said: “BSI is delighted to be sponsoring this exhibition of Chinese art and regards the arrangement as a celebration of the cultural and educational links between our two countries.”
