BSI signs agreement with Uzbekistan standards agency

Press release - 20 October 2008

BSI British Standards signed a Joint Co-operation Agreement with Uzstandart, the Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of Uzbekistan which will see the two organizations working together in the area of standards and best practice.

The agreement was signed at the ISO General Assembly in Dubai last week by Mike Low, Director of BSI British Standards, and Abduqahhar A. Abduvaliev, Director General of Uzstandart. It follows a joint project, initiated in 2007, in which BSI assisted Uzstandart in setting up processes which will enable implementation of international standards. This includes training in the area of writing standards and study visits to European standards bodies.

Mike Low, Director of BSI British Standards, said, “This agreement is an important step for both BSI and Uzstandart. BSI has already been involved in implementing standardization processes in Uzbekistan and we look forward to using our expertise to support the progress of standardization further.”
