New addition enhances Asian expertise on BSI Group board

BSI Group today announces the appointment of Michael French as a
non-executive board member

The BSI Group, known for its Kitemark and as a world leader in setting and assessing standards for industry and consumers, has appointed Michael French to its board as a non-executive Director.

Mr French is an engineer by training and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He brings to the BSI board his considerable experience of working in Asia, specifically Japan, where he was based for many years during his distinguished career with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He became a Partner in 1980.

Sir David John, Chairman of BSI, says of Mr French’s appointment: "We are delighted to have someone of Michael’s international experience joining the board at BSI. I am sure that his expertise will prove an asset."

Note to editors:

Michael French is British and 57 years old. He was educated at Kings College, London University where he gained a BSc in Civil Engineering. His early career was spent as a civil engineer with Freeman, Fox & Partners before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1970. He is currently a Governor of Sherborne Shool and the School of Oriental and African Studies, Chairman of the Family Housing Association and Trustee and Treasurer of the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, an Anglo-Japanese charity.
