Synthetic biology

Synthetic biology involves designing and constructing artificial biological parts, devices and systems. Since this is such a new industry, different businesses are working in widely different ways - but standards can help them work together to encourage innovation and faster growth of the sector. We've been working with SynBiCite, an Innovation and knowledge centre at Imperial College London, to work out what standards are needed and to put a strategy together to develop them. The aim is to help create a successful digital biomanufacturing industry and accelerate the rate of commerical success.
